Here’s why James Cameron unveils the highly-anticipated “Avatar: The Way of Water” for the 1st time in the world in Korea
Director James Cameron has revealed why “Avatar” sequel was released for the first time in Korea.
On December 9th at 10 am KST, a press conference for the movie “Avatar: The Way of Water” was held at the Conrad Hotel in Yeouido. Actors Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang, as well as director James Cameron and producer John Lando, attended the event.
After “Avatar: The Way of Water” was unveiled for the first time through a press distribution preview in Korea on December 8th, rave reviews about the film are pouring in.
Continuing from the first movie, “Avatar: The Way of Water” depicts not only the story of the family, but also the environmental problems faced by all mankind.
Director James Cameron said, “The reason why the movie is being released for the first time in the world in Korea is because I know that Korean fans love and are interested in ‘Avatar’.”
He added, “I’m glad I came to Korea. Thank you for showing very high interest in the movie. There must have been people who watched it in advance on December 8th. I wonder how they felt.”
Zoe Saldana said, “I know how popular Avatar is in Korea. I’m here to tell you about the journey of Avatar.”
Sigourney Weaver said, “It’s so nice to introduce our movie in Korea. I’m especially happy to have the opportunity to introduce ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ in Korea.” Stephen Lang said, “Thank you for the warm welcome. As an American, I want to enjoy a warm friendship with Korea.”
Producer John Lando said, “Thank you for warmly welcoming us today. ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ must be seen on a large screen. I hope you watch it at a movie theater.”
The sequel to “Avatar”, “Avatar: The Way of Water” tells the story of the ruthless threats faced by the family of Jake Sully and Neytiri on the planet Pandora, their long journey and battles to survive, and the wounds they must endure.
Director Cameron said, “As a diver and explorer, I love the sea and the ocean very much. Many creatures in the ocean are endangered. In particular, dolphins are facing a crisis of disappearing.”
He continued, “This movie has meaning in exploration. It contains family and drama. It also delivers an emotional story. This is not a movie that ends at once. Rather than teaching, I want it to be a movie that makes you feel something. It turns what you feel about the sea into action.”
“Avatar: The Way of Water” will be officially out in theaters on December 14th.
