Netizens Baffled by Korean Man Calling Feminism “Mental Illness”?

A Korean man has gone viral for all the wrong reasons: calling feminism “mental illness” and misogyny “realistic”.

Recently, a street interview video of a Korean man has gone viral, drawing attention not only on the Korean forum Pann Nate, but also across the SNS platform X (formerly Twitter).

The video in question shows the aforementioned man saying the first words that comes to his mind while hearing other words. In the end, the man said “mental illness” to the word “feminism”, “realistic” to the word “misogyny”, “blessing” to the word “pregnancy”, and “protected object” to the word “women”

As a result, a post sharing this video on X has attracted over 20 million views with thousands of people expressing their distaste for the video.

Most netizens were baffled to hear the thoughts of the man, whose visual initially provided a good impression. Some even express pity for Korean women for having to deal with guys like these on a daily basis, whilst some others believe this mindset of Korean men to be the reason behind the country’s alarmingly low birth rates.

Below are some comments from netizens:

  • He was attractive and then he started to speak and now I wish he’d just shut up
  • The way he just casually said those without thinking he’s wrong… Korean women, to think you have to deal with these kind of shits for so long
  • No wonder why the Korean birth rates are falling…
  • If a women made these kinds of statements about men, she would have gotten death threats…
  • This is genuinely concerning…
