BTS’s long-term vacation has started, 7 members are expected to share their moments on SNS
The global super group BTS has begun their 2nd long-term vacation ever since their debut.
After spending 2 years and 3 months working hard, they finally had another long-term vacation, following the first one which lasted from August to September 2019. BTS recently wrapped up this year’s official schedule with the concert “BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE – LA” and the 2021 Jingle Ball Tour in the U.S. Therefore, this will be a satisfying break for BTS. Despite the difficult situation due to the pandemic spread, they still managed to carry out busy schedules and achieved their best results last year and this year.
With “Dynamite”, which was released in August last year, BTS became the first Korean singer to have a total of 6 songs dominating the No.1 spot on the U.S Billboard Main Single Chart Hot 100. BTS members have established themselves as global top artists in name and in reality by setting great records, such as being nominated at the “Grammy Awards” for 2 consecutive years and becoming the first Asian singer to win at the “American Music Awards”.
However, after working nonstop, they definitely need a break. Eventually, BTS decided not to appear at the 2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) – Asia’s largest pop music awards ceremony, which is scheduled for December 11th. In particular, it is known that this is the first time since BTS’s debut in 2013 that their agency – HYBE allowed the members to spend their precious year-end time and New Year holidays with their family.
What will BTS members do?
Accordingly, Jin, Jimin, and Jungkook returned home on the morning of December 6th after finishing all their schedules in the U.S. Other members, RM, Suga, J-Hope and V, are still staying in the U.S.
7 members will spend their vacations in their own ways. Nothing has been revealed about what BTS members will do during their break. However, considering the way they spent their last vacation and their usual hobbies as well as preferences, it is possible to make some speculations.
RM, who is rich in taste, is expected to enjoy various hobbies during the vacation. Reading and visiting art galleries are, of course, scheduled. He is such an art lover that he usually rides a bicycle to art galleries. As he is known to be interested in woodworking, he can also expect to participate in this activity as well.
Suga, who usually loves music, is expected to enjoy his vacation listening to music.
Jin, who is creating a “challenge craze” on social media through his self-composed song “Super Tuna,” released just before the vacation, is having a break while watching various videos of “Super Tuna” covered by BTS’s fandom ARMY. In addition, it is expected that he will enjoy his favorite activity, fishing. “Super Tuna” is reportedly also inspired by fishing.
Jimin and Jungkook may go down to their hometown of Busan and take a rest. J-Hope, who is usually social, will meet friends and seniors and juniors he has had time to meet and have good talks. V, who likes to travel and take pictures, is expected to travel from place to place. He is known to be currently staying in the United States.
It has become like an unwritten rule among ARMYs to pretend not to recognize BTS members if they encounter them during their vacation. However, this time, ARMY will be able to see BTS members more often.
This is because the seven members opened their Instagram accounts on December 6th, when their second long-term vacation began. The members have already posted photos sharing their daily lives. For example, RM took pictures of cats.
Until now, BTS has refrained from using individual social media. They have been communicating with fans through group accounts and HYBE’s fan community platform Weverse. Fans are pleased that their opening personal Instagram accounts was done in time for the second long vacation. The members quickly gained 15 million followers each within a day.
Foreign media outlets also immediately reported BTS members’ launching personal Instagram accounts. Billboard wrote, “BTS is using their ‘extended period of rest’ to share tidbits of their life on Instagram.”
Vacations are music nourishment after all
BTS members’ vacation is, after all, nourishment for new music activities. The 4th full album “Map of the Soul: 7” (released in February 2020), which was their first work after the first long vacation, showed its completeness along with the members’ fierce internal concerns. RM confided in the press conference at that time, “We went on a long vacation, so the comeback was delayed. As we made a comeback after 10 months, we were able to talk about a lot of high-quality stories.”
Regarding BTS’s second long vacation, HYBE’s music label Big Hit Music expressed their expectations, “This period of rest will provide the members of BTS who have tirelessly committed themselves to their activities, a chance to get re-inspired and recharge with creative energy.”
After the vacation, BTS will be focusing on preparing for the concert and release of the new album that will mark the beginning of a “new chapter”. They are also preparing for a concert in Seoul this coming March. The timing of their return was not specified. However, as there are big awards ceremonies such as the “36th Golden Disc Awards” and the “64th Grammy Awards” held in January, it seems like they will not resume their activities before that.
