What MAMAMOO’s activities meant to leader Solar

Solar, who made a comeback as a solo singer after a year and 11 months, revealed what she learned through MAMAMOO’s activities.

On March 15th, Solar conducted an online interview ahead of the release of her first mini-album “容 : FACE” and met Wikitree to talk about various things.

On this day, when asked “What’s your favorite concept?”, Solar said, “My musical color has changed these days. Originally, I liked strong and intense songs like ‘Egotistic’ and ‘HIP’ during MAMAMOO’s activities. These days, I’m attracted to music that makes me feel good when I listen to it like ‘Um Oh Ah Yeh’ and ‘You’re the Best’. I often listen to fresh and bright songs from the beginning of my debut.”

Then she explained, “One of the reasons why many people like MAMAMOO is girl crush. I did a lot of strong concepts that were cool and attractive even for women, and I liked such songs too. However, as I do that concept a lot, I find something else.”

Various concepts she tried through group activities were also helpful for her solo album. Solar shared, “I experienced many stages while promoting with MAMAMOO. I tried both the music I wanted and the music I didn’t want. I learned a lot. I was able to easily find the songs, stage style and makeup that suit me best.”

What is the difference between MAMAMOO Solar and solo singer Solar? She confessed, “In MAMAMOO, each of us has a role. I’ve never done the intro. Since I’m mainly in charge of high notes and chorus, many people are familiar with that part. That’s why many people are surprised when I sing in a low tone. I actually like low notes.”

She expressed satisfaction with the concept of the new album, “The styling is different from that of MAMAMOO. Team styling requires balance. If someone is strong, someone has to be weak. I was just in the middle. This time, I think it’s good to be able to show a new side that was difficult to do during MAMAMOO’s activities.”

Solar’s first mini-album “容 : FACE” will be released on various music sites at 6 PM on March 16th.
