Korean actress with the most interesting name: praised for her acting but vanished from the screen

After co-starring with Choi Woo Shik, this Korean actress completely disappeared from showbiz.

Born in 1985, Kim Kkot Bi might not be a familiar name to the audience now, but it is undoubtedly one of the most unique and interesting names. In particular “Kkot” means “flower” while “bi” means “rain” – signaling the actress as a flower that flourishes amid the rain.

Instead of going for “easier” school and romance projects, Kim Kkot Bi started out in art and nori films right after her debut. At the time, the actress was set on optimizing her acting skills, instead of wishing for fame or wealth. As a result, she debuted with a minor role in the 2001 movie “My Boss, My Hero”, before moving on to critically acclaimed works like “Jealous Is My Middle Name” and “This Charming Girl”.

In 2009, Kim Kkot Bi became a familiar name after her excellent portrayal in the film “Breathless”, which was directed by director Yang Ik June and eventually won her the title of Best New Actress at the prestigious Grand Bell Awards and Blue Dragon Film Awards. Thanks to “Breathless”, she was also honored as the Best Actress of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the Pan Pacific International Film Festival, proving Kim Kkot Bi’s insurmountable acting prowess.

However, despite her skills, Kim Kkot Bi’s filmography consists of more supporting characters than leading roles, and she had limited screen time in international projects. In 2015, the actress co-starred with famous actor Choi Woo Shik in “In The Room”, which is also her final project as of the moment.

7 years later, Kim Kkot Bi has seemingly vanished from the acting scene. Now 37 years old, perhaps Kim Kkot Bi has grown tired of her life as an actress, and decided to stay away from acting projects. Now, she occasionally appears on interviews and TV programs, but never discusses about her future career path.
