Actor Ahn Bo-hyun won the OTT Acting Award of the 2022 Apan Star Awards as proof of the popularity of ‘Yumi’s Cells’ and ‘My Name’.
On the afternoon of the 29th, the ‘2022 Apan Star Awards’ was held at Kintex, Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do. This is a global K-drama festival where the best artists who have had a strong influence on popular culture are all gathered. The event was hosted by actor Jung Il-woo and Girls’ Generation member – actress Kwon Yu-ri.
The Apan Star Awards 2022, back two years after the last awards ceremony, were held from March 2021 to July 2022 for all drama content shown across all platforms, including terrestrial TV, cable TV and OTT. Reflecting the increased global status and popularity of K-dramas this year, four categories were newly established: Male Actor Popularity Award, Female Actor Popularity Award, Best Couple Award, and OST Award.
Ahn Bo-hyun, who took the stage first, said, “I think it’s an award that is meant to tell me that I’m still lacking a lot and need to work harder. I think I’m receiving this on behalf of the staff. I’m grateful to the martial arts team and voice actors who worked hard behind the spotlight,” drawing enthusiastic applause. He continued his meaningful acceptance speech, saying, “I will work harder to become a son who is filial and an actor who does not lose his original intention by watching and learning with my best.”
Ahn Bo-hyun has made his face known through “Descendants of the Sun,” “Her Private Life,” “Itaewon Class,” “Kairos,” “Yumi’s Cells,” and “My Name” since his debut in the drama “Golden Cross” in 2014. Recently, he challenged his first title role through “Military Prosecutor Doberman” and received favorable reviews for his stable acting skills.
Han Sun-hwa said, “I’m so grateful and honored. A year ago, “Work Later, Drink Now” was released. I would like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thanks to Eun-ji and Sun-bin, I was able to act with better energy,” she expressed. “I was able to play today’s Jiyeon thanks to all the works I had met before. I also want to say thank you to everyone who always believes in me,” she added.
Han Sun-hwa met her career’s representative character after playing the role of Han Ji-yeon, a yoga instructor who boasts nonstop over-tension and high tone in the TVing original “Work Later, Drink Now” released last year.
At the time of its release, “Work Later, Drink Now” received great love for stories that anyone could relate to, such as real friendship and the joys and sorrows of office workers. In particular, the show topped the weekly paid subscription contribution figure among TVing’s original contents of all time, playing a major part in the popularity of TVing in the fourth quarter of last year.
