This actress in her 50s gets called “baby” by a senior actress who is 2 years older

Kim Hye Soo and Yum Jung Ah reunited for the first time in 27 years since “Scent of Apple Blossoms”.

Actress Yum Jung Ah recently expressed her feelings about acting with Kim Hye Soo again after 27 years. She said, “The atmosphere on the set was really comfortable thanks to Kim Hye Soo, who generously shared her love with fellow actors”, boasting about their friendship.

Yum Jung Ah and Kim Hye Soo have been friends since they worked together for the first time in the drama “Scent of Apple Blossoms” in 1996. When Yum Jung Ah was starring in “SKY Castle”, Kim Hye Soo even texted Yum Jung Ah to ask about the secret behind the birth of Hye Na, the character played by Kim Bo Ra.

Reuniting with Kim Hye Soo in the movie “Smugglers”, Yum Jung Ah revealed that their friendship has deepened. She shared, “Kim Hye Soo complimented me all the time, which became a great source of strength for me during the filming”.

Yum Jung Ah also mentioned the special nickname Kim Hye Soo calls her, saying “Hye Soo unnie still calls me ‘baby’”, drawing admiration for their long-lasting friendship.

Born in 1972, Yum Jung Ah already turned 50 this year. She is two years younger than Kim Hye Soo, who was born in 1970. 

Kim Hye Soo debuted six years earlier, Yum Jung Ah is also a veteran actress who has been acting for more than 32 years. The nickname “baby” may sound awkward, but it seems to be a special expression of their precious friendship.

Starring two veteran actresses Yum Jung Ah and Kim Hye Soo, the movie “Smugglers” tells about the once-in-a-lifetime smuggling operation that unfolds in front of people who make their living in the sea. 

Yum Jung Ah takes on the role of Uhm Jin Sook, the leader of haenyeo (female divers) who participate in the smuggling operation after spending making their living from the sea. 

“Smugglers” will premiere on July 26th.
