The suspicion of Park Min Young’s ex-lover being mentioned in the background of why the police raided HOOK Entertainment is a hot topic.
According to the Serious Crimes Investigation Division of Korea’s National Police Agency on November 10th, the police raided the building of HOOK Entertainment located in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
The police’s seizure and search were reportedly carried out for about 5 hours from noon to 5 p.m. The news much attention since it is rare for the police to raid entertainment agencies.
No specific reason for the raid has been revealed but netizens have already raised speculations that the issue might be related to Kang, the ex-lover of actress Park Min Young.
Kang, known as the brother of virtual asset exchange Bithumb’s CEO, is a suspect in the embezzlement of Bithumb.
As three companies related to Kang had been raided earlier, the seizure and search of HOOK Entertainment seem to have some connections to the case.
These speculations are also based on the fact that Kang is a close business partner with Won, chairman of Chorokbaem Media, the parent company of HOOK Entertainment. In particular, Chorokbaem Media holds 100% of the stakes in HOOK Entertainment.
As some people also raised opinions of an internal management problem, attention is focused on the real reason for the raid of this entertainment agency. HOOK Entertainment has not released any position regarding the police’s seizure and search.
The Southern District Prosecutors’ Office recently banned Kang from leaving Korea and is reportedly considering the time to summon him. This process is to investigate whether Kang conspired with his younger sister in the embezzlement.
Meanwhile, Park Min Young drew a line in September when rumors of her romantic relationship with Kang arose. The actress also denied the allegations of her receiving financial support from Kang.
However, controversies intensified when Park Min Young’s sister was listed as an outside director of a Bithumb-related company. As soon as Park Min Young’s dating rumors broke out, her sister immediately resigned from the director position.
HOOK Entertainment is managing famous actors, including Park Min Young, Youn Yuh Jung, Lee Seo Jin, Lee Seung Gi, and singer Lee Sun Hee.
