Taeyeon of Girls’ Generation denied all speculative buying accusations regarding her real estate fraud situation.
On Oct 28th, Taeyeon posted a long wall of text on her Instagram, beginning with “I’m posting this because my objective seems to be turning out differently from my original intention”. Taeyeon explained her reason for buying that real estate property, saying, “I have been living apart from my family since I was young, so my wish was to set up a home for my family which will be a little closer to where I work and live. To make a spot for my family is my dream.”
She then expressed her disappointment over the controversy assuming that she was doing speculative buying, “With the consent from my family, and both my parents have directly checked and decided to buy it.” (In real estate, speculative buying or speculation is a term used to refer to investing in property with the expectation of its value increase in the future.). “We are still waiting for how the situation will play out because we were unilaterally informed about the damage as well, which is why I’m asking you guys to refrain from misunderstanding, speculating, and assuming the situation.”
Taeyeon said, “I’m frustrated wondering why I even have to talk too much about this. To those who misunderstand and have negative thoughts, please refrain from raising more speculations.” In addition, she added, “Since I’m that crazy to you, should I just do the speculative buying then?”, and denied all the speculation allegations surrounding her.
Earlier today, YTN reported that a famous Hallyu star – A, who is a girl group member, was a victim of a planned real estate fraud worth 250 billion won. According to the media, the real estate company bought a forest land in Hanam, Gyeonggi-do at 400 million won in 2019, but sold it to A for 1.1 billion won 3 months later.
However, this land is virtually impossible to be developed as it is considered a “mountainous area for conservation” under the Forest Conservation Act. Later, when additional reports came out claiming A was Taeyeon, her agency – SM Entertainment responded, “It’s difficult for the company to confirm this issue since it’s related to the artist’s personal asset.” After suspicions surrounding her continued to arise, Taeyeon decided to express her position personally.
