BLACKPINK’s Jennie to have her 1st official acting gig 6 years after debut in “The Idol” produced by Weeknd

BLACKPINK’s Jennie is challenging herself in acting. 

On July 18th, the first official teaser for HBO’s original series “The Idol”, starring BLACKPINK’s Jennie, was posted. “The Idol” is scheduled to be released within this year. It is produced by famous Canadian singer The Weeknd.

“The Idol” depicts the world of popular pop idol stars. In addition to The Weeknd, Lily-Rose Depp, Johnny Depp’s daughter, and singer Troy Sivan joined the cast. Jennie made a surprise appearance in a supporting role. She was dancing next to Lily-Rose Depp in a scene from the trailer.

Through “The Idol”, Jennie will be taking her first step as an actor 6 years after debuting as an idol singer.

Jennie made her debut as a member of BLACKPINK in August 2016 after years of training at YG Entertainment. In November 2018, she made her solo debut with the single “SOLO”.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK has confirmed to make their long-awaited comeback this August. They are reportedly in the final stages of recording a new album. BLACKPINK will start filming a MV in July and release new songs in August. They are also going on a world tour by the end of the year.
