Will Ahn Jae Hyun, who used to face controversies over acting skills, succeed by leading new weekend drama “The Real Has Come!”?

Ahn Jae Hyun will make his comeback on the small screen for the first time in three years through the weekend series “The Real Has Come!”.

“The Real Has Come!”, which will premiere in March, centers around a fake romance contract between a single mom and an unmarried man. It’s a family drama that depicts the growth of members of a family through various stages, including romance, pregnancy, childbirth, and childrearing.

Ahn Jae Hyun will play Gong Tae Kyung, an obstetrician and gynecologist specializing in infertility clinics with excellent skills. Despite owning a handsome look, this character prefers being single. One day, he encounters Oh Yeon Du (Baek Jin Hee) and gets involved in an accident that completely changes his life.

Earlier, Kwak Si Yang was cast to portray Gong Tae Kyung but he dropped out due to schedule problems. After looking for a new actor to replace Kwak Si Yang, the production team decided to choose Ahn Jae Hyun for this male lead role.

For the first time in three years since MBC’s 2019 drama “Love with Flaws”, Ahn Jae Hyun will appear on the small screen. It’s also his return work on KBS 8 years after “Blood” ended in 2015. However, the actor received criticism over his acting skills in both “Love with Flaws” and “Blood”.

In the comedy drama “Love with Flaws”, Ahn Jae Hyun clumsy acting performances, including his awkward facial expressions, robot-like gestures when trying to look handsome, and stuffy vocalization, made viewers feel uncomfortable throughout the whole drama. Playing his first lead role in “Blood”, Ahn Jae Hyun failed to prove his presence as a main character and left no impression on the viewers. Therefore, the ratings of both series kept on declining and ended with poor results.

Although Ahn Jae Hyun is well-loved for his entertainment skills in various variety shows, including “New Journey to the West”, “Spring Camping”, and “Athletic Genius Ahn Jae Hyun”, he has not made any significant achievements with his main job as an actor. This is the reason why many drama fans are raising concerns wondering whether Ahn Jae Hyun can lead a 50-episode weekend drama.

Three Bold Siblings

In particular, KBS2’s recent weekend series “It’s Beautiful Now” and “Three Bold Siblings” both ended with ratings in the range of 20% and couldn’t surpass 30% like previous works. The reputation of KBS’s weekend drama is declining, and it is important for KBS to have a hit to revive from the current crisis.

To make it happen, Ahn Jae Hyun must prove his acting ability as an actor through the upcoming project “The Real Has Come!”. If he continues to disappoint viewers with his acting, his status as an actor will be downgraded.

Hopefully, Ahn Jae Hyun will make a breakthrough with his comeback drama after three years.
