The Current Situation of the Girl Whose Life Turned Around by Passing the Disney Audition at 14

Discover the latest on Auli’i Cravalho, the girl who transformed her life after winning a Disney audition at age 14.

Dwayne Johnson, who played the role of Maui, a half-human, half-god character in the Disney animation “Moana,” announced the news of the live-action adaptation of the film back in April.

Accompanied by his two daughters, Dwayne Johnson expressed his excitement, stating that he would also portray the role of Maui in the live-action adaptation. However, Auli’i Cravalho, who voiced Moana, revealed that she would not appear in the live-action film, causing disappointment among fans.

Auli’i herself announced through her social media accounts in May, a month after the news of the live-action adaptation, that she would not be involved in the project.

Instead, Auli’i Cravalho stated that she would participate in the live-action film as an executive producer. She expressed great honor in passing her role to another Polynesian actress, revealing her Polynesian identity and her extraordinary affection for the work.

Auli’i Cravalho, born in 2000 in Kohala, Hawaii, experienced a turning point in her life at the age of 14 when she was chosen as the voice actress for “Moana” after surpassing hundreds of competitors.

Since then, she has continued her career by voicing characters in animated series such as “Elena of Avalor” and “The Little Mermaid: Live!” and appearing in films like “Rockstar” and “Crush.”

The live-action adaptation of “Moana,” for which Auli’i Cravalho, who holds a special affection for her debut work, serves as an executive producer, aims for release in 2025. However, due to the ongoing strike by the Hollywood Writers Guild and Actors Guild, production is expected to face delays.
