The reason why it took “Avatar” 13 years to reach part 2

The sequel “Avatar: The Way Of Water” is finally coming to greet movie fans all around the world this December.

On the afternoon of Oct 6th, at CGV Centum City in Haeundae-gu, Busan, the screening of “Avatar: The Way Of Water” was held together with a question-and-answer session with producer Jon Landau and director James Cameron.

Let’s go to planet Pandora together,” producer Jon Landau suggested, introducing the “Avatar: The Way Of Water” footage which was about 15 minutes.

Producer Jon Landau stood in front of reporters again after the Footage screening and shared, “’Avatar: The Way Of Water’ is set against the backdrop of something that cannot be separated from us, which is water.”

As for the reason why it took such a long time for the sequel of “Avatar” to be released, he said, “I started writing the scripts around 2013. However, not only part 1 but also the 2nd and 3rd parts were worked on almost simultaneously. It took this long for us to film two movies at once while working on part 4,” he explained.

Producer Jon Lando attended the opening ceremony of the 27th Busan International Film Festival on Oct 5th with his wife. The Busan International Film Festival and Walt Disney Company Korea will donate to charity the entire proceeds of the special event “Avatar: The Way Of Water.”
