“Staying abroad…” Stalking crime spreads in the Korean film industry, and the culprit is “B”

An incident that would turn the film industry upside down happened. 

It has been confirmed that B, a famous film producer and CEO of an entertainment company, is being investigated by the police on charges of stalking.

According to CBS No Cut News, A reported the famous film producer B to the Seoul Seongdong Police Station earlier this month on charges of stalking. B continuously made phone calls or sent text messages to A.

The police arrested B after A’s report on Sep 8th and applied for provisional measures No.2 and No.3 to the prosecution. The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors’ Office requested provisional measures from the Eastern District Court on Sep 9th. The court immediately issued a restraining order. This means that not only communication access but also physical access is prevented.

Here, stalking crime refers to repeating and continuing actions that cause anxiety and fear by following someone against their will / delivering objects, words, writings, pictures, videos, etc. directly or through mail, telephone, information network system.

The police and prosecution can take temporary measures against the perpetrator in accordance with the Stalking Punishment Act. No.1 is a written warning, No.2 is prohibiting from approaching within 100m, No.3 is prohibiting from contacting, and No.4 is jail / detention center. They are requested separately, but usually they are also requested together.

B is a famous film-drama producer and CEO of a large entertainment company. Currently, B is staying abroad and has not been investigated by the police. B is known to be denying the crime.
