Last month, KBS News’ “World Report” corner take a look at the hot Korean Wave that is spreading to the center of downtown Japan through a report titled “The rapid evolution of the Korean Wave…The Korean Wave among Japanese MZ Generation.”

In the broadcast, Japanese locals showed off Ji Min‘s fan goods through the interviews, “This is an earring designed by Ji Min. The clothes I am wearing are also designed by a BTS member (Ji Min),” they proudly said, drawing attention.

These specific goods were released in January as parts of the “With You HOODY” and “Red Caving Earring” projects which Ji Min participated in the overall production. These fashion items are drawing explosive attention as a hot item for not only fans but also foreign celebrities.

In the following interviews, locals expressed their extraordinary fan sentiment by taking pictures in front of Ji Min’s cell phone advertisement or holding up the BT21 character CHIMMY doll, which is designed by Ji Min.

Earlier on JTBC “Talkpawon 25:00” K-Culture episode, when a Japanese person was asked, “What do you think of when you think of Korea?” they immediately said “Ji Min.” When the interviewee asked, “You mean BTS Ji Min?”, they emphasized, “Yes, BTS.” This proves how popular Ji Min is in Japan.

In particular, according to the 2021 SNS Trend and Z Generation Insight research institute “Memedays,” Ji Min was the only K-pop male idol chosen as a role model by Japanese girls aged 15 to 21.
