Actor Ryu Jun Yeol expressed his feelings about winning Best Actor at the Baeksang Art Awards.

In April, Ryu Jun Yeol was honored with Best Actor in the Film category for the movie “The Night Owl” at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards held at Paradise City, Incheon. Revealing his feelings, the actor said, “First of all, I was very surprised. I attended an award ceremony after a long time having no expectation of getting an award. I felt like going there to my colleagues and senior actors. Therefore, I was completely dumbfounded when they called my name”.

Ryu Jun Yeol continued, “I was happier when I was nominated”, adding, “But still, as I’ve gotten older and more mature, I feel sorry that I received the award and other younger actors failed to make it. They all told me not to feel sorry but I couldn’t help but feel very upset for them.”

He mentioned, “I don’t have my trophies at home. Although I’ve received several awards, I didn’t have strong emotions about winning them. However, the award this time gave me a completely different feeling.”

The actor confessed, “It certainly carries more responsibility and makes my heart feel heavier. This award is too big for me to just say things like, ‘I’m not interested in awards and if you work hard, it will come to you’. Even if it doesn’t have any further meaning, it was such a significant event that I felt like I need to do something in return. I think this award created a space in me so that I can add something more to become a better actor.”

Ryu Jun Yeol smiled and said, “More than anything else, my goal is to continue working in the industry for a long time. That way I may have more chances to be nominated.”

Lastly, he shared, “I want to take this award home and show it to my parents. They have never seen a trophy before because I have never brought one home. I want to show them something like this once. In the future, I want to become an actor who works hard even when I’m in lower places.”
