“My Dearest” Namkoong Min and Ahn Eun-jin finally reunite
In Part 1 of MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama “My Dearest” (directed by Kim Seong-yong, Lee Han-jun, Cheon Soo-jin / written by Hwang Jin-young), Lee Jang-hyun (played by Namkoong Min) and Yoo Gil-chae (played by Ahn Eun-jin) had a fateful love story where they saved each other amidst the chaos of the Qing invasion of Joseon. They faced numerous near-death experiences, but their love for each other grew stronger. However, they faced a great ordeal. While Lee Jang-hyun left for Shenyang, Lee Jang-hyun’s belongings, said to be keepsakes, arrived in Hanyang. Because of this, Yoo Gil-chae believed that Lee Jang-hyun died.
As time passed, Lee Jang-hyun and Yoo Gil-chae met again in Hanyang, only to be separated once more. For Lee Jang-hyun, who loved Yoo Gil-chae but had no choice but to let go of her hand, and for Yoo Gil-chae, who loved Lee Jang-hyun but had no choice but to turn away coldly, it was a farewell filled with only regret and sadness. As the distance between the two increased at the end of Part 1, the big question was whether the two would be able to reunite in Part 2.
In last week’s broadcast, Lee Jang-hyun only wished for Yoo Gil-chae’s happiness in Shenyang, while Yoo Gil-chae concealed her feelings for Lee Jang-hyun in Hanyang. However, Yoo Gil-chae was suddenly kidnapped and taken to Shenyang. Amidst a group of Joseon prisoners trying to escape, Lee Jang-hyun saw Yoo Gil-chae. Even as they crossed paths multiple times, they were separated once more. In episode 12’s ending, they came face to face once again like destiny. Yoo Gil-chae ran for her life among the prisoners, and Lee Jang-hyun’s eyes widened when he spotted a Joseon woman running away from afar. At that moment, the new character Gak-hwa (played by Lee Chung-ah) aimed an arrow at Yoo Gil-chae. The tension rose as it remained uncertain whether Lee Jang-hyun recognized Yoo Gil-chae or if he would save her.
On Oct 20th, the production team unveiled photos that showed Lee Jang-hyun and Yoo Gil-chae in the same place once again. In the first photo, Lee Jang-hyun looks surprised while gazing at someone. You can see the back of a Joseon woman wearing a green jeogori (Korean traditional jacket) in front of him. From the next photo, it can be deduced that the Joseon woman discovered by Lee Jang-hyun is Yoo Gil-chae. Yoo Gil-chae’s pale appearance in the photo is heartrending.
The production team said, “In episode 13, Lee Jang-hyun and Yoo Gil-chae will finally reunite. It’s a crucial scene in the development of the drama. Namkoong Min and Ahn Eun-jin poured all their energy into it, delivering a storm of emotions. Please look forward to it.”
Episode 13 of “My Dearest” will air at 9:50 PM on Oct 20th.
