On Sep 22nd, SBS’ new drama “The Escape of Seven” announced the lineup of 7 main characters. Hwang Jung-eum and Jo Yoon-hee, along with Uhm Ki-joon, Lee Yoo-bi, Shin Eun-kyung, Yoon Jong-hoon, Jo Jae-yoon and Lee Deok-hwa, confirmed their casting.
“The Escape of Seven” tells the story of seven people involved in the disappearance of a girl. Many lies and desires are intertwined in their story. Above all, it is drawing attention in that it is the third collaboration between writer Kim Soon-ok and director Joo Dong-min, “hitmakers” who made successful works such as “The Last Empress” and “The Penthouse: War in Life” series.
Hwang Jung-eum and Jo Yoon-hee will work with writer Kim Soon-ok for the first time through “The Escape of Seven”. Geum Ra-hee (played by Hwang Jung-eum) is the CEO of a competent and reckless drama production company. Seeing money and success as the greatest value in her life, she is a self-righteous woman who will do anything for it. After 15 years, she finds her daughter, whom she abandoned, in order to inherit a huge inheritance. However, this choice becomes a boomerang and shakes her life.
Jo Yoon-hee takes on the role of Go Myung-ji, an art teacher. She lies to protect what she treasures, and the more secrets she has to keep, the more she moves relentlessly. Go Myung-ji is a character who turns the tide of the drama by spreading strange rumors around her school to keep her secrets from being discovered.
In particular, the two almost met through “Full House 2” 10 years ago, but failed. At that time, Hwang Jung-eum was cast as the female lead, but she reversed her appearance then confirmed her appearance after amicable discussions between production companies. Jo Yoon-hee, who was cast to play Hwang Jung-eum’s rival in love, dropped out due to scheduling issues.

Hwang Jung-eum recently overcame a divorce crisis with her husband Lee Young-don and gave birth to her second son. Hwang Jung-eum announced her divorce shortly after the end of “Men Are Men”.
