1. The Lady in Dignity
JTBC’s Friday-Saturday drama “The Lady in Dignity” aired from June to August 2017. “The Lady in Dignity” depicts the story of an elegant Cheongdam-dong woman named Woo Ah Jin (Kim Hee Sun), who relished a life of luxury by marrying a quasi-chaebol son, until Park Bok Ja (Kim Sun Ah) walks into her life. “The Lady in Dignity” deals head-on with the story of women struggling to keep their respective positions against the backdrop of chaebol families.
2. Reflection of You
“Reflection of You” is a JTBC Wednesday-Thursday drama based on the novel of the same name by Jung So Hyeon. It aired from October to December 2021. It tells the story of Jeong Hee Joo (Go Hyun Jung), a woman who leaves the conditioned lifestyle of “wife and mother” for a brief period and becomes faithful to her desires, and Gu Hae Won (Shin Hyun Bin), another woman who comes in contact with her in that short span and loses the light of her life. The drama created many enthusiasts with Go Hyun Jung and Shin Hyun Bin’s acting skills and excellent psychological portrayal.
3. Queenmaker
Netflix’s original series “Queenmaker” is a political womance work. “Queenmaker” tells the story of Hwang Do Hee (Kim Hee Ae), a genius in image-making and a former executive in a large company’s strategic planning department who jumps into the election to make human rights lawyer Oh Kyung Sook (Moon So Ri) become Seoul’s mayor. In the drama, Kim Hee Ae and Moon So Ri played completely opposite characters. At first, they seemed to distrust and be wary of each other, but after learning that they had the same goal, they joined hands. The two actresses showed refreshing womance acting and received favorable reviews.
4. Lies Hidden in My Garden
ENA and Genie TV’s original drama “Lies Hidden in My Garden” premiered on June 19th and will air until July 11th. It is based on the novel “House with a Yard” by Kim Jin Young. “Lies Hidden in My Garden” is a suspense thriller about two women Moon Joo Ran (Kim Tae Hee) and Chu Sang Eun (Lim Ji Yeon), who live completely different lives, meeting each other due to a suspicious smell in the backyard. Kim Tae Hee and Lim Ji Yeon are making viewers excited as they are expected to show unconventional acting that they did not show in previous works through “Lies Hidden in My Garden”.
