“Queendom Puzzle”, controversy over classification “Our program will be completed with 100% viewer votes”

The production team of “Queendom Puzzle” expressed their position on the controversy over “assigning artists into ranks”.

On the afternoon of June 13th, the press conference of Mnet’s “Queendom Puzzle” was held at the HW Convention in Jongno-gu, Seoul. MC Taeyeon, 26 contestants, CP Yoon Shin Hye and PD Lee Yeon Gyu attended the event.

Queendom Puzzle” is a program that completes a project girl group by combining active girl group members or female artists. It has been highly anticipated as a follow-up to Mnet’s “Queendom” series.

However, in the pre-released video, it was pointed out that the contestants were divided into Ranks 1~4 based on the number of times they won first place on music shows and their first-week album sales.

On this day, CP Yoon Shin Hye expressed her position on the controversy. She explained, “I thought there might be some of the public’s prejudices as contestants with different years of experience, different concepts and different active careers gathered. I’d like to say that (the grading table) was prepared as a device to break such prejudices in the beginning.

She added, “In fact, in the second half of the first broadcast, there’s a comment saying, ‘These ranks will disappear from now on.’ I hope that the individual stages will serve as an opportunity to break prejudices by showing the members’ charms regardless of their numbers and achievements.”

PD Lee Yeon Gyu raised expectations by saying, “Our program will be completed with 100% viewer votes. This means that a project girl group will be completed. The production team also had a meeting about the best combination. Each person was different. It can be talent or visual, and it will be fun for viewers to rediscover the contestants’ hidden charms by creating the best combination they think while watching until the final.”

Singer Taeyeon took on the MC role on “Queendom Puzzle”. Taeyeon cheered for the contestants, “I want you to think that you got a good opportunity through the program. I don’t think there are many opportunities to present great performances with other groups and members. I hope the members will think it’s a precious opportunity and make it their own.”

A total of 26 contestants participate in “Queendom Puzzle”, including JooE (MOMOLAND), Yeoreum (WJSN), Elly (Weki Meki), Bora, Jiwon, Chaerin (Cherry Bullet), Yuki (Purple Kiss), Riina, Hwiseo (H1-KEY), Sangah (LIGHTSUM), Juri, Suyun, Yeonhee (Rocket Punch), Seoyeon, Jiwoo (tripleS), Soojin, Jihan, Soeun, Zoa (Weeekly), Nana, Wooyeon (woo!ah!), Dohwa, Miru, Yeeun, Kei and Faii.

WJSN Yeoreum, who previously won “Queendom” season 2, joins “Queendom Puzzle” this time. Yeoreum shared, “It’d be a lie if I said there was no pressure. I was very nervous, but I worked hard thanks to the members’ support.”

Girl group Weeekly participates in “Queendom Puzzle” with the largest number of people. Weeekly expressed their aspirations, “We can rely on each other and support each other, but we also have motivations as competitors. We’ll do our best for the remaining filming process and performances.

“Queendom Puzzle” will air at 10 PM on June 13th.
