BTS j-hope to enlist on April 18th in Gangwon Provincial Government Office

j-hope, a member of BTS, will be enlisting as an active-duty soldier in the army on the 18th of this month.

According to military sources on April 13th, j-hope is scheduled to enter the army’s A Division boot camp in Gangwon Province on April 18th. After receiving five weeks of basic military training, he will be assigned to a unit at the end of May.

Earlier this month, BTS’s agency, Big Hit Music, announced j-hope’s enlistment through the group’s fan community. Then, on April 8th, j-hope also revealed his new short haircut on social media.

Big Hit Music has no plans to hold a separate event on the day of j-hope’s enlistment to prevent any safety accidents.

On the other hand, BTS members are considered “excellent individuals in the field of popular culture and arts” under the current “Military Service Act” and are allowed to delay their military enlistment until the age of 30. BTS received the Order of Cultural Merit in 2018.

However, j-hope completed the process of canceling his enlistment postponement last month and has been following the procedures for fulfilling his military duty.

As a result, j-hope will be the second member of BTS to serve in the military, following Jin (real name Kim Seok Jin), who enlisted as an active-duty soldier in the army last December and is currently serving as a training instructor in the Army’s 5th Division.

It has been reported that other BTS members will also fulfill their military duties sequentially according to their individual plans.

In the case of BTS member Suga (real name Min Yoon Gi), he was determined as a social service worker instead of an active-duty soldier through the Military Manpower Administration’s physical examination at the end of last year.

The military authorities have stated that after BTS members enlist, they will be given opportunities to participate in national events or activities for public interest purposes if they wish to do so.
