Former JYP artist Jeon Somi will promote under the management of her father

Jeon Somi, who canceled her exclusive contract with JYP Entertainment seems to be planning to promote as a solo artist with her father’s help for a while.

Jeon Somi, who recently terminated her contract with JYP, reportedly plans to continue her entertainment activities with the help of her father Matthew Douma.

Jeon Somi’s father is a Dutch Canadian photographer and a national Taekwondo team member who has been reportedly active in various field such as acting and modeling. Therefore, it is known that Jeon Somi’s entertainment schedule is not difficult to manage for him.

In the KBS2 drama “Descendants of the Sun” in 2016, Matthew Douma gathered attention for acting as a U.N. Army captain who had a intense fight with Yoo Shi-jin (Song Joong-ki).

He has been living in South Korea since 1994, married his Korean wife and has two daughters, including his eldest daughter Jeon So-mi.

Jeon Somi appeared in Mnet’s ‘Produce 101’ season 1 in 2016, won first place and was the center of girl group I.O.I. for a year. After that, she signed an artist contract with JYP and had been active individually until recently as she announced the cancellation of her contract with the company. The background of Jeon’s farewell to JYP is unknown. “All has been announced on our official homepage,” JYP Entertainment said, “We have nothing else to say.”
