According to YG Entertainment on April 27th, BLACKPINK’s “DDU-DU DDU-DU” dance practice video surpassed 500 million views on YouTube at 11:02 PM the previous day. It took about 5 years and 10 months since its release on June 18th, 2018.

The explosive number of views of dance practice videos is BLACKPINK’s trademark. Among the group’s 45 videos with over 100 million views on YouTube, this marks the fourth dance practice video to surpass 500 million views, showcasing the fervent interest of global fans in BLACKPINK’s performances.

The music video for “DDU-DU DDU-DU” (2.1 billion views) continues to break its own records on YouTube, becoming the first and highest-viewed K-pop group music video.

BLACKPINK’s first mini-album “SQUARE UP” title track “DDU-DU DDU-DU” gained immense popularity with its addictive chorus and choreography resembling shooting with both hands, ranking as the most-watched K-pop music video worldwide that year.

“DDU-DU DDU-DU” achieved remarkable success on various domestic and international music charts. It reached 40th place on the Billboard 200 and 55th place on the Hot 100, setting the highest ranking for a K-pop girl group at the time. It also surpassed 690 million streams on Spotify, approaching 700 million streams.

Last year, BLACKPINK successfully concluded their world tour “BORN PINK”, spanning 34 cities with 66 shows. They performed as the first Asian headliner at the US Coachella Festival (with a combined audience of 250,000) and the UK Hyde Park (65,000 attendees), solidifying their status as a “world-class” act.
