BLACKPINK Jennie’s Debut Drama “The Idol” Causes a Frenzy With 1st Episode

“The Idol”, marking BLACKPINK Jennie’s highly anticipated acting debut, has released its first episode. 

On June 5th, HBO’s original series “The Idol” premiered in North America. Jennie appeared for a total of about 10 minutes in the first episode.

Jennie, who played Lily Rose-Depp’s close friend and dancer in the drama, appears in a music video shooting scene. With male dancers, she showcases a high-intensity, sexy dance that caught the viewers’ attention.

In the scene where Lily Rose-Depp and Jennie have a conversation in the sauna, they attract attention with their unique and enchanting atmosphere. 

There are also several 19+ rated scenes in the first episode, featuring Lily Rose-Depp and The Weeknd.

On Twitter that day, Jennie’s still cuts released by HBO and gifs of Jennie’s appearance gained attention. Netizens showed various reactions, such as “I was surprised by Jennie’s  dancing after hearing that she had very little screen time,” “Should have put a warning,” “Wow…,” “Didn’t get to see the entire dance,” “She’s really pretty,” “What’s with the intensity,” and “The choreography is too explicit.

“The Idol” depicts the complex relationship between emerging pop idols and the industry. The Weeknd co-produced and starred in the series. Lily-Rose Depp, daughter of Johnny Depp, and Troye Sivan also appeared.
