Yoo Jae Seok is the best entertainer of the year for 11 consecutive years with a 52.0% approval rating

2022 is also the era of comedian Yoo Jae Seok.

From November 7th to 24th, 2022, Gallup Korea asked 1,771 people aged 13 and older nationwide (excluding Jeju) about two entertainers and/or comedians who they thought were the most active this year, and Yoo Jae Seok topped the list for 11 consecutive years with 52.0% of support.

Yoo Jae Seok is the leading star of many long-lived entertainment programs on terrestrial TV such as “Happy Together” (KBS2, 2001-2020), “Infinity Challenge” (MBC, 2006-2018), and “Running Man” (SBS, 2010-). He made his first step into the non-terrestrial variety world with “To You Project – Sugar Man” (JTBC) in 2015 and entered the global OTT market this year. The top 10 TV programs that Koreans like (Korean Gallup Monthly Survey) include three of his shows “Yoo Quiz on the Block” (tvN, 2018-), “Hangout With You” (MBC, 2019-) and “Running Man” at the same time, proving his name.

In the comedian category of “Person of the Year” (started including broadcast entertainer from 2018), which Gallup Korea surveys every year, Yoo was No. 1 in 2007-2009, briefly stepped down to No. 2 in 2010-2011, but has been No. 1 for 11 consecutive years since 2012. The gap between Yoo Jae Seok and the second place widened from 6% in 2018 to 20% in 2019, 32% in 2020, and about 40% last year and this year.

Entertainer of the Year

In 2nd place is Kang Ho Dong (12.4%). He reigned as the two major national MCs with Yoo Jae Seok until 2010 thanks to “2 Days 1 Night” (KBS2) and “Golden Fishery” (MBC). He retired temporarily in 2011 and returned in 2012 and ranked 5th for 9 consecutive years since 2013.

In third place is Shin Dong Yup (8.7%), who is said to be the strongest in indoor entertainment. He is currently in charge of hosting several long-lived entertainment shows such as “TV Animal Farm” (2001-), “My Little Old Boy” (2016-) (SBS), “Immortal Songs” (KBS2, 2012-), and “True Story Expedition” (MBC, 2018-). He has been ranked in the top five for six consecutive years since 2017.

Shin Dong Yup

In fourth place is Park Narae (8.3%). Debuting as a comedian in the 21st KBS open recruitment in 2006, and gradually making her name known through “Comedy Big League” (tvN) in 2012, she appeared as a guest on various entertainment programs and became a trend with her unique charm. Currently, she is appearing in “I Live Alone” (2013-), “Where is my Home” (2019-) (MBC), “Dr. Oh Eun Young’s Golden Clinic” (Channel A), “Lined Up Restaurants” (tvN), and “World Dark Tour” (JTBC). She ranked second between 2018 and 2020, and ranked fifth for seven consecutive years since 2016.

Entertainer of the Year

In fifth place is Jun Hyun Moo (8.1%). As an anchor for YTN in 2004 and an announcer for KBS in 2006, he showed top variety skills in various programs early on, and turned to freelance in 2012. He became the first announcer to win a Daesang at the 2017 MBC Entertainment Awards. Currently, he is appearing in “I Live Alone,” “Hidden Singer” (JTBC, 2012-), “Omniscient Interfere” (MBC, 2018-), and “Boss in the Mirror” (KBS2, 2019-).
