Winter reacts to NingNing, who has poor eye-sight, getting water gun shots at Waterbomb festival

The moment when Winter took care of NingNing during aespa’s performance at the Waterbomb festival drew attention.

On June 25th, aespa members Karina, Winter, Giselle, and NingNing performed at the ‘Waterbomb Seoul 2023’ festival held at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul.

Immediately after the event, online communities were flooded with photos of aespa at Waterbomb. Among them, the cute moment of Winter and NingNing caught the eyes of fans. 

While on the stage, Winter asked NingNing, who became the target of water gun shots, “Are your eyes okay?”. In another scene, Winter quickly picked up the googles that NingNing dropped in the middle of a performance and handed them over to NingNing.

Earlier during an interview with Vogue China in March, NingNing shared, “I had surgery when I was young because my eyesight isn’t very good. I can barely see anything in my right eye”, confessing that she suffered amoebic keratitis at a young age.

amoebic keratitis is a disease in which an amoeba, which lives in tap water, poorly maintained swimming pools, and bathtubs, infiltrates the cornea and causes inflammation. It is a condition that can damage the cornea and vision, or even blindness in severe cases.

When aespa confirmed their appearance in the performer lineup of the ‘Waterbomb Seoul 2023’ on June 5th, fans raised concerns that NingNing might get water shot at her eyes.

Seeing Winter taking care of NingNing at the event on the 25th, netizens commented, “I only know NingNing’s bad eyesight now”, “Winter took good care of NingNing”, “Kim Min Jeong also got hit by water shots”, “I hope NingNing’s eyes didn’t get hurt”, etc.
