Former IZ*ONE Kim Minju to star in Korean remake of “Hear Me”

Kim Minju, a former member of IZ*ONE, has been cast as a leading character in “Cheongseol”, the Korean version of “Hear Me”.

According to the film industry on July 19th, Kim Minju recently secured the lead role in the film “Cheongseol” (working title) and is currently preparing for the filming. She will be co-starring with Hong Kyung and Roh Yoon Seo, who had previously been announced to join the project, and expectations are high for their refreshing youthful romance.

Meanwhile, “Cheongseol” revolves around a man who falls in love at first sight with a woman who communicates through sign language. It is a Korean remake of the 2010 Taiwanese film “Hear Me”, and has been generating buzz since the production stage, at the same time forming a solid fan base in Korea.

In the movie, Kim Minju will assume the role of Roh Yoon Seo’s character’s younger sister, who is a swimmer. Although the character appeared as an older sister in the original version, it has been changed to a younger sister in the Korean remake. Kim Minju is said to have started thorough preparations for this character, as she has to handle swimming as well as sign language acting.

Although Kim Minju starred in an independent film in 2019, “Cheongseol” can be considered her first commercial film where she takes on the lead role. Kim Minju, who proved her potential as an actress through MBC’s “The Forbidden Marriage”, has quickly secured her next work.

On the other hand, Kim Minju gained global popularity as a member of girl group IZ*ONE, which was selected through the Mnet survival show “Produce 48″ in 2018. She has been active as an actress since IZ*ONE’s disbandment, and interest is high for how Kim Minju’s unique and refreshing image will shine in “Cheongseol”.
