On March 13th, Han Hyo-joo‘s agency BH Entertainment told OSEN, “Han Hyo-joo has been cast in the Japanese Netflix series ‘Romantic Anonymous’.

According to the agency, “Romantic Anonymous” is currently in production, and Han Hyo-joo is reported to be filming in Japan.

“Romantic Anonymous” is based on the 2010 French film “Romantics Anonymous” directed by Jean-Pierre Améris. This film, known domestically as “Chocolate Romance”, depicts the love story between a chocolate manufacturer owner and a chocolatier.

Produced as a Japanese Netflix series, “Romantic Anonymous” tells the story of a timid but talented chocolatier who gets a job at a small chocolate shop. It is directed by Shō Tsukikawa, known for popular films such as “I Want to Eat Your Pancreas” and “The 100th Love With You”.

In the work, Han Hyo-joo plays a chocolatier who has social phobia but has a genius talent in chocolate confectionery. The role of the owner of the chocolate shop where Han Hyo-joo’s character is employed is played by Oguri Shun, a top actor in Japan. Han Hyo-joo is expected to deliver excitement through romantic comedy chemistry with Oguri Shun in “Romantic Anonymous”.

In particular, the meeting of top actors from Korea and Japan has garnered much attention from drama fans. Furthermore, Oguri Shun rose to fame not only in Korea but also across Asia through the remake of “Boys Over Flowers”. Anticipation is high for the synergy between him and Han Hyo-joo.

Oguri Shun debuted in 1994 with “GTO” and gained popularity with series like “Summer Snow” and “Gokusen”, as well as receiving much love for his role as Hanazawa Rui in “Boys Over Flowers”. He has also received positive responses for his roles in adaptations of manga to live-action works such as “Detective Conan” and “Gintama”.

Han Hyo-joo made her acting debut in 2005 with “Nonstop 5”. She has since appeared in various dramas such as “Heaven & Earth”, “Iljimae”, “Brilliant Legacy”, “Dong Yi”, “W”, “Happiness” and movies like “Cold Eyes”, “Masquerade”, “Love 911”, “The Beauty Inside”, displaying her versatile acting skills. Recently, she appeared in Netflix’s “Believer 2” and Disney+’s “Moving”, solidifying her presence in global OTT platforms. She is also set to star in the upcoming Disney+ series “Blood Free”, scheduled to be released next month.
