On February 8, an interview featuring one of South Korea’s most famous vocal trainers, Park Seon-joo, was published. Here, Park Seon-joo mentioned various notable K-pop idols, and had a lot of praise for BLACKPINK members and (G)I-DLE’s Soyeon.
In particular, regarding BLACKPINK, the famous vocal trainer said, “All four members of BLACKPINK have outstanding vocals. Rosé, in particular, has a fantastic vocal tone, which is really challenging to achieve. Her voice expresses her life and thoughts extremely well expressed in your voice”.
Park Seon-joo then went on to praise (G)I-DLE as one of the few artists that can be considered “best” in terms of vocals, even calling them “the most remarkable” among recent girl groups.
According to the vocal trainer, she was surprised when hearing “Super Lady”, as Soyeon’s vocals for the group’s new title “has improved tremendously”. “It is difficult to produce such high notes”, Park Seon-joo said, adding that maintaining such notes with the same tone is even more challenging, making Soyeon extremely impressive considering her small body.
The vocal trainer also concluded by making a bold statement, saying, “If SISTAR’s Hyolyn is Korea’s Beyoncé, then Soyeon is Korea’s Lady Gaga”.
