Multiple 4th generation K-pop groups are facing a trend where members leave the group or cease activities within just 1 or 2 years, or even mere months after their debut. Some even exit before their official debut.
While not entirely new, this sudden trend has emerged in multiple instances over the past few years. Previously, from the 1st to the 3rd generation of K-pop, most groups only encountered member departures due to unforeseen circumstances.
Typically, debut lineups would remain unchanged for around 7 years (until contract renewals). However, the phenomenon of abrupt departures shortly after or a few years into debut, often accompanied by controversies forcing exits, is becoming more prevalent.
Moreover, contestants who won on survival shows and secured debut spots sometimes surprisingly gave up their positions. This was a rarity in the past.
The company also removed Hwarang’s images from the group’s comeback posters. This indicates a high likelihood that Hwarang may be leaving TEMPEST after 2 years.
