“Revenge” has become a new trend in the Korean drama and movie industry with the releases of “Reborn Rich”, “The Glory”, “Christmas Carol”, etc.
Family dramas and movies are often organized to broadcast on year-end holidays, such as Christmas and Lunar New Year. However, this year, the small and big screens are all dominated by “bloody” revenge works.

Song Joong Ki, who plays a double role as Yoon Hyun Woo and Jin Do Joon at the same time, is showing impressive performances after becoming Jin Do Joon. Jin Do Joon, who stands out for his handsome appearance, got accepted to Seoul National University School of Law thanks to his brilliant brain. He also helps his grandfather – Sunyang Group’s Chairman Jin Yang Chul make the right decisions with his sharp judging skills and information about actual historical events he knows as Yoon Hyun Woo in the future.
Jin Do Joon also gave advice to help Sunyang Group’s son-in-law Choi Jang Je, who was running for Seoul mayor, win the election. Song Hye Kyo is expected to take over the baton when “Reborn Rich” ends on December 25th. Netflix’s original series “The Glory”, which is scheduled to premiere on December 30th, depicts the story of the female lead, who dropped out of school due to school bullying, becoming the homeroom teacher of the school violence perpetrator’s child and taking revenge.
Writer Kim Eun Sook, who wrote the hit drama “Descendants of the Sun” starring Song Song Couple, was in charge of “The Glory” script and joined hands with director Ahn Gil Ho, who made “Stranger”. Song Hye Kyo, who will challenge an OTT series for the first time through “The Glory”, will play the role of teacher Dong Eun, a victim of school violence, and coldly carries out a revenge plan.

“A Christmas Carol”, which marks GOT7 Park Jin Young’s first lead role in a movie, also heralds a bloody revenge story.
Based on a novel of the same name by Joo Won Kyu, “A Christmas Carol” begins when older brother Il Woo enters the juvenile detention center himself to take revenge after the death of his twin brother Wol Woo, who has developmental disabilities, and faces a gang there.
Unlike its title “A Christmas Carol”, which gives a warm feeling, the movie will thrill the viewers by revealing the dark side of our society through issues, such as school violence, the gap between the rich and the poor, etc.
Park Jin Young, who was greatly loved for his performance as Yoo Babi in TVing’s “Yumi’s Cells”, shaved his head to portray two roles, Il Woo, who plans revenge, and Wol Woo, a developmentally disabled child. He is expected to lead the movie well with his stable acting skills. “A Christmas Carol” is set to premiere on December 7th.
On December 21st, Disney+’s “Casino”, a noir series based on revenge material that stars Choi Min Sik and Son Suk Gu, will be released. “Casino” tells about a man, who once rose to the top and became the legendary king of the casino, returning to the game betting his life after losing everything in a series of incidents.
Choi Min Sik plays Cha Moo Sik, who earned 70 billion won in casinos for 10 years in the Philippines, but got caught up in a murder case and bet his life in the casino game again for revenge.
The series was directed by “The Outlaws” director Kang Yoon Sung. Actor Son Suk Gu, who rose to stardom with the drama “My Liberation Notes” and the movie “The Roundup”, will appear as a police officer who chases after Cha Moo Sik.
