Police Arrest Another Suspect Connected to the Murder of Model Abby Choi, Who is the Lover of the Victim’s Former Father-in-Law
The fifth suspect has been arrested in the case of model Abby Choi.
Regarding the news of the murdered model Abby Choi, on February 26th, Hong Kong police made a new breakthrough in the investigation by arresting another suspect related to the case. According to sources from HK01, this person is the lover of the ex-father-in-law – the mastermind behind the crime.
The new suspect is a 47-year-old woman named Wu who works at a massage parlor in Tuen Mun, Hong Kong. She had met and dated the victim’s ex-father-in-law for a few months. Wu rented a house in Tai Po in mid-February to house her lover’s son (Alex Kwong – Abby Choi’s ex-husband) before fleeing to a port and being arrested by the police.
According to HK01 sources, after the new discovery, the Western New Territories Regional Crime Unit went to Wu’s workplace to search for her, but Wu did not show up for work. After questioning massage parlor employees who were Wu’s colleagues, Hong Kong police were able to locate and arrest the suspect on Tin Shui Road.
Abby Choi’s ex-father-in-law, 65 years old, used to be a police officer. He received a certificate of merit for long service from the Hong Kong police. In 2001, he was promoted to chief of police, and in 2005 was assigned to the Police Department as head of the investigation department. But during this time, he was involved in the rape case of a woman. After the victim reported the crime, he was arrested and investigated. He finally took the initiative to resign, and this case eventually ended.
Abby Choi’s ex-husband was involved in a gold investment scam in February 2015, swindling 4 people in total out of the amount of gold worth 5 million Hong Kong dollars.
Abby Choi’s ex-husband’s brother (31 years old) though has no criminal record, but in 2019 was entangled in heavy debt and was sued by the bank. Her former mother-in-law (63 years old) is now retired, but in 2016 she filed for bankruptcy. During the investigation of the case, Abby Choi’s ex-husband’s family repeatedly made false statements to distract the police investigation.
Up to now, a total of 5 suspects have been arrested in the murder of Abby Choi. Abby Choi’s father-in-law and ex-brother-in-law have been charged with murder and will face the highest sentence under local law. Her ex-husband was arrested on February 25 and is still in the process of giving testimony. Meanwhile, her ex-mother-in-law is accused of obstructing justice. The mistress of her ex-father-in-law who was arrested on February 26 is currently being detained for investigation.
