Netflix’s “In the Name of God” becomes hot topic after OTT release

Netflix’s documentary “In the Name of God: A Holy Betrayal” (hereinafter referred to as “In the Name of God”), which was released on March 3rd, starts with a shocking recording revelation that makes you doubt your ears from the opening.

This documentary has become a hot topic in Korea since its release last week as it reveals shocking recordings of sexual assault committed by Christian Gospel Mission (JMS)’s leader Jung Myung Seok. 

It also covers other notorious religious cult cases in Korea from the 1980s until now. These cases have been controversial and often caused strong reactions from Korean people.

Regarding this, JMS filed an application for an injunction to ban broadcasting, claiming that the content covered in the documentary was false. 

However, the court rejected their request, stating that the documentary is based on substantial evidence and cannot be denied.
