She already had experience filming underwater thanks to participating in director James Cameron’s previous film “Titanic”.

In an interview with Total Film on December 13th (local time), Kate Winslet said, “I have the video of me surfacing saying, ‘Am I dead, have I died?’ Straight away I wanted to know my time. And I couldn’t believe it. I wanted director James Cameron to know right away.

She continued, “I didn’t have to hold my breath for over 7 minutes. It’s just that the opportunity to set a record presented itself. I wanted to break my record, which was already 6 minutes and 14 seconds. And I was like, ‘Come on!’ so I smashed my own record by a minute.”

“I am not afraid of water at all. I like it because it seems to calm me down when I go into the water. It feels like entering a very unconventional and cool cutting-edge tech community.”  – Kate Winslet
