G-Dragon’s Artwork Withdrawn from Auction, Agency Denies Involvement

G-Dragon's side stated that the artwork submitted for auction has no relation to G-Dragon himself.

According to G-Dragon’s agency on March 29th, it was confirmed that G-Dragon’s piece, ‘Youth is Flower,’ scheduled to be auctioned at the Contemporary Art Sale at Seoul Auction Gangnam Center in Sinsa-dong, Seoul, had been canceled.

The artwork, created in 2017, depicts symbols representing G-Dragon himself, including a daisy flower, painted on an iron panel within the “Untitled 2017” at Jeju Shinhwa World, when G-Dragon served as the brand ambassador. The starting bid for the auction was reported to be 30 million won.

G-Dragon, known as an art enthusiast, was previously listed in ArtNews as one of the ’50 Notable Collectors’ in 2019. Recently, he also personally designed the cover for the February issue of ‘Fortune Korea,’ the Korean edition of the American global economic magazine ‘Fortune,’ featuring Galaxy Corporation’s CEO, Choi Yong-ho.
