Singer-actor Lay (Zhang Yixing) is making a name for himself as a producer
Lay established the entertainment agency Chromosome and took on the role of producing the debut mini-album “LE’V 1st EP A.I.BAE” for Chromosome’s first artist LE’V (Wang Zihao). The album contains a total of 4 songs, including the title track “A.I.BAE” and the b-side track “Exchange ID” in Korean and Chinese versions.
“A.I.BAE” portrays a narrative of experiencing love and awakening to a new dimension, while “Exchange ID” describes a mystical virtual world and expresses the idea of love that remains unchanged even as the world changes. Lay’s involvement in producing LE’V’s debut album introduced a fresh perspective and garnered attention.
“A.I.BAE”, produced by Lay, achieved remarkable success on its release day. It topped China’s Weibo real-time search list and secured the number one spot on the Hanteo Chart’s real-time album and music charts on the same day. Furthermore, it surpassed 56,000 copies in first-week sales according to Hanteo Chart, marking impressive sales figures.
Lay has also been successful in his acting career. The film “No More Bets” starring him achieved a tremendous response and set records, even becoming the highest test screening gross in Chinese film history ($69.3 million).
Lay’s versatility extends to music as well. “2023 Grand Line 3” demonstrated his immense popularity, with one million simultaneous online ticket purchasers on major Chinese ticket platforms. “Zhang Yixing ticket reservation” even ranked first on China’s prominent social media platform Weibo, affirming Lay’s ticket-selling power.
