Is “Marry My Husband” Taking Advantage of BTS? Multiple Mentions of the Group

In the 8th episode of hit K-drama “Marry My Husband”, female lead Kang Ji-won (played by Park Min-young) got proposed to by her cheating boyfriend Park Min-hwang (played by Lee Yi-kyung).

During this proposal scene, fireworks appeared in the sky, and along cute shapes like a heart and Hello Kitty, the words “Spring Day” also appeared. This is likely because BTS’s “Spring Day” was previously revealed as Ji-won’s favorite song.

However, this is not the first time “Marry My Husband” mentioned BTS, as the K-drama previously used BTS’s songs to make the female lead and the male lead recognize they are both from the future.

In addition, a scene also showed the male lead Yoo Ji-hyuk (played) by Na In-woo asking the female lead’s first love, Baek Eun-ho (played by Lee Gi-kwang), about BTS’s songs.

In particular, in order to gauge if Eun-ho comes from the future, Ji-hyuk asked the other if he knows about “Dynamite” and “Spring Day”, to which Eun-ho responded, “The bomb that Nobel’s invented” and “The period between March and May”.

Thanks to this, Ji-hyuk learned that Eun-ho did not come from the future, as he was unaware of BTS’ future hit songs.

However, the constant mentions of BTS has bothered some netizens, who claimed that the writers are trying to take advantage of BTS’s popularity.

Comments such as “One time is fine and even funny, but they are doing it repeatedly even though BTS has nothing to do with the drama” and “I laughed the first time, but they are totally taking it too far” can be found across SNS.
