Ex-Super Junior Kangin mentions Jung Joon Young’s group chat room, assault and drunk driving controversies

Former Super Junior member Kangin recalled controversies in the past.

Kangin recently appeared on the YouTube channel “The Lives of Others” and talked while recalling his Super Junior activities.

When asked about the situation when he enlisted in the military, Kangin explained, “There were 2 things. Assault and drunk driving.

Regarding his feelings at that time, Kangin said, “I was obviously wrong. I made a mistake that I should have never done.”

Regarding the fact that Kangin was 26 years old back then, the production team defended, “You were really young.” Kangin responded, “I was younger than I am now. But I was old enough to know everything.

What happened to his relationship with SM Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as SM)? Kangin explained his contractual relationship with SM, “Thankfully, I’m still with them as they told me, ‘Let’s accompany each other.’

But he withdrew from Super Junior. When asked if he left the group to take responsibility for controversies, Kangin confessed, “Weren’t my actions wrong? It was really a fact, and I didn’t think it was a matter for me to judge.”

He mentioned the “Jung Joon Young Group Chat Room” incident, which caused a huge social stir beyond the entertainment industry at that time, “I wanted to come back and help the team somehow, but there were articles that could be misunderstood. A group chat room in Korea’s entertainment industry…

Kangin cautiously continued, “My name was mentioned there (Jung Joon Young’s group chat room). At that time, I was filming a drama in Japan. One of them once went to shoot in Germany with me. There was a group chat room among the cast. There was no such content in that room, but the articles were published as if I were a member of Jung Joon Young’s group chat room.”

Kangin showed a sense of unfairness, “I had a really hard time. I kept explaining, explaining, explaining… I have nothing more to explain.”

He shared, “People believed in what I didn’t even do, and Super Junior was mentioned. I thought ‘It shouldn’t be like this’, so I discussed it with the company before I left.”

To Kangin, Super Junior members are people that he is sorry to. He said, “I’m always sorry. I’ll be sorry to my colleagues and friends for the rest of my life.

Meanwhile, Kangin debuted as a member of Super Junior in 2005 and left the group in 2019.
