Former ASTRO member, Rocky, has taken his first steps as a soloist
Yesterday (Nov 22nd), a media showcase was held in Seoul for Rocky’s mini-album ‘ROCKYST’ release. After performing the title track ‘LUCKY ROCKY’ and the song ‘Chameleon,’ Rocky engaged in an interview.
Previously ASTRO’s member, Rocky founded his own agency, ONE FINE DAY Entertainment, in August and embarked on a solo career. He demonstrated significant growth by participating in the lyrics, composition, and production of all the tracks on this album.
Dressed in a white outfit, Rocky, appearing on stage, expressed, “I prepared for a long time. I’m excited and looking forward to presenting this album.”
Acknowledging the challenges of establishing his company for the first time, Rocky said, “There were many trials and errors in document work, choices, and decisions, but I’m confident because I was involved from the beginning to the end of the album.”
Rocky conveyed his aspirations, “As it’s a new beginning, I plan to gradually create my musical color and become a charismatic artist.”
In this album’s creation, Rocky focused most on accessibility. He candidly expressed, “I wanted to make my name known. I tried to include content that the public can enjoy comfortably and that fans would like.”
Having left ASTRO in February after the expiration of his exclusive contract with Fantagio, Rocky expressed gratitude to the fans who waited for him. He said, “Thanks to the fans who have been waiting and supporting me, I’m very grateful. I’m happy to present this album thanks to the fans. I want to continue showing good performances in the future.”
ASTRO members congratulated Rocky on his new beginning during the office opening ceremony in August.
Rocky emphasized the learning experience from ASTRO activities, “Learning what kind of artist I want to be through ASTRO activities is significant. I’m fortunate to have members who filled in my shortcomings.”
Announcing a new start, Rocky contemplated changing his stage name but decided to keep it. He confessed, “Honestly, I had concerns about changing my stage name. After thinking about the name that fans have called and continue to call thousands of times, a name filled with memories, I decided to keep it.”
The title track, ‘LUCKY ROCKY,’ is a retro-pop song with groovy saxophone and funky guitar sounds, conveying a message that luck comes when singing and dancing along. The stage setup is characterized by musical elements, including tap dance.
Describing himself as an adventurous and constantly challenging artist, Rocky said, “I want to be known as an artist who takes on challenges and completes them well. Completing this challenge is my goal.”
Rocky’s first solo album ‘ROCKYST’ was released yesterday at 6 p.m. KST through various online music platforms.
