Choi Ye Na’s agency eventually explains why “Hate Rodrigo” MV was taken down

Yuehua revealed the reason they deleted the music video of Choi Ye Na’s controversial song “Hate Rodrigo”.

On June 30th, Yuehua Entertainment released an official statement, saying “We discovered certain scenes that might cause issues, such as infringement of trademark rights, portrait rights, and copyrights. As a result, we decided to take it down on the 29th for private editing, and the music video is currently being revised”, adding “We apologize for causing confusion without prior notice due to our belated recognition of such parts. We will immediately re-upload the music video after editing is completed.”

The agency continued, “The claim that the music video was made private at the request of Olivia Rodrigo’s side is not true, and we would like to clarify this point”, adding “We have not received any of such requests, and we hope that there will be no misunderstandings among the artists and fans due to unconfirmed reports. We would also like to ask everyone to refrain from spreading speculations in the future.”

A media outlet recently reported that the music video “Hate Rodrigo” was switched to private at the request of Olivia Rodrigo’s side. 

Earlier on the 29th, the music video of Choi Ye Na’s comeback song “Hate Rodrigo” suddenly disappeared from Youtube, The song contains lyrics expressing Choi Ye Na’s admiration with cute jealousy towards her idol Olivia Rodrigo, saying “I hate all the kids who are doing better than me!”. 

At the showcase to commemorate her comeback on the 27th, Choi Ye Na said, “I maximized my affection and admiration for Rodrigo using an ironic expression. I will show my sincerity through the lyrics and performances”. She added, “Rodrigo is pretty and perfect. She’s my role model”.
