“Crash Course in Romance” had an awkward ending as everything rushed to a happy ending.
In the final episode of tvN’s Saturday-Sunday drama “Crash Course in Romance“, which aired on March 5th, Nam Haeng Seon (Jeon Do Yeon) and Choi Chi Yeol (Jung Kyung Ho) proposed to each other, resulting in a happy ending.
Although the drama ended in popularity as its final episode recorded an average of 19.8% and a maximum of 20.8% based on the metropolitan area, many people point out that there is a lot of regret as much as expectations were high.
As “Crash Course in Romance” tried to serve many things such as scandals, thrillers, infidelity, college entrance exams and supporting actors’ love lines, it was busy quickly resolving the developments with a happy ending.
As the case was concluded by the sudden death of Ji Dong Hee (Shin Jae Ha), the culprit behind the murders, Choi Chi Yeol and other characters forgot all about it and focused on their own loves.
Choi Chi Yeol became embroiled in a scandal with a pianist who was his blind date, which led to Choi Chi Yeol and Nam Haeng Seon proposing to each other. 2 years later, they kiss on the street and promise to get married. Nam Hae Yi (Roh Yoon Seo) and Lee Seon Jae (Lee Chae Min) also become college students and start their love story.
The sudden love line between Nam Jae Woo (Oh Eui Shik) and Kim Young Joo (Lee Bong Ryun) not only did not gain sympathy, but was also pointed out that it was excessive. They bore fruit of love with the news of pregnancy in the final episode.
In addition, Bang Su Ah (Kang Na Eon) and Seo Geon Hu (Lee Min Jae) formed a love line in one episode. Jang Seo Jin (Jang Young Nam) recovers her relationship with her husband as well as her son Lee Hee Jae (Kim Tae Jeong) and becomes a happy family.
Jo Su Hee (Kim Sun Young) finds out about her husband’s affair. Her daughter Bang Su Ah also finds out about her father’s infidelity, but she shows maturity by recommending Jo Su Hee to divorce. Bang Su Ah eventually passes Korea University’s medical school, and Jo Su Hee counsels for college entrance exams at the academy. She has a happy ending while living her life as a working mother.
In particular, Nam Haeng Seon’s older sister leaves for Japan alone, showing a refreshing appearance in one episode. Because the deep conflict so far is “family”, the development that is solved in one scene also leaves a question.
On the other hand, the scene where the past and present of Nam Hae Yi and Nam Haeng Seon overlapped was touching.
As if recognizing mixed reactions, writer Yang Hee Seung said on March 5th ahead of the end of the drama, “Thank you for giving us too much love. Looking back on the long journey, I wonder if there were parts where I was too greedy, and I’m reflecting on myself.”
As many stories were included and everything was finished in a hurry, the drama lost its freshness. Mixed reactions continue despite the happy ending.
