Song Hye Kyo shined spectacularly with a scream

In “The Glory”, “melodrama queen” Song Hye Kyo challenged herself with a revenge drama, playing the role of female lead Moon Dong Eun without wearing any makeup.

“As we got into the later parts, I became 100% in sync Moon Dong Eun, and was able to immerse myself in this character,” said Song Hye Kyo, who confidently stated that all cast members will impress viewers in Part 2.

In Part 1 of “The Glory,” Song Hye Kyo shed her usual lovely image and showed viewers a somewhat unfamiliar, cool face. However, it was only in Part 2 did she reach the pinnacle of acting performance. In particular, her screams directed at her mother, who was also an abuser, allowed viewers to deeply sympathize with Moon Dong Eun’s pain and despair.

In episode 12, Moon Dong Eun explodes in anger towards her mother and screamed, “You should never have done that. You may still have no shame, but you shouldn’t have work with the person who ruined your child’s life. How could you abandon me like this again?” This scene where she pours out her emotions was powerful.

In episode 13, Moon Dong Eun threatens her mother with scissors, shouting, “I will never forgive you. The reason I can’t forgive you is that you don’t even know that you were my first abuser. So don’t smile. Don’t smile like that.” This scene gave viewers goosebumps.

Yeom Hye Ran’s excellent acting even without lines

Yeom Hye Ran, a trusted actress, also delivered a great performance in “The Glory” as Kang Hyeon Nam, who was Moon Dong Eun’s most powerful accomplice. In Part 2, Kang Hyeon Nam remained loyal to Moon Dong Eun even after her identity was exposed to Park Yeon Jin (played by Lim Ji Yeon).

One of the memorable scenes was in episode 14 when Kang Hyeon Nam stood before a window, reflecting her bruised face and cold smiled. Yeom Hye Ran perfectly expressed deep emotions when Kang Hyeon Nam helped send her daughter overseas, and her abusive husband threatened Park Yeon Jin’s mother. Additionally, when Kang Hyeon Nam confirmed her husband’s death and leaned against a wall, smiling and shedding tears without any lines, Yeom Hye Ran’s powerful acting allowed viewers to fully empathize with the characters.

Song Hye Kyo and Yeom Hye Ran played their roles as Moon Dong Eun and Kang Hyeon Nam well, adding liveliness to their characters. The two characters were brought to life through Kim Eun Sook’s solid script and the two actors’ spectacular performances, shaking the hearts of audiences.
