The main characters of the real “top student & worst student” documentary, which inspired the story of “Our Beloved Summer”, suddenly appeared on Yoo Jae-seok’s show

The actual main characters of the documentary, which was the inspiration the story of SBS’s hit drama “Our Beloved Summer”, appeared on “Yoo Quiz on the Block”.

Eom Kyu-min and Kim Do-yoon showed up on the broadcast of tvN’s “Yoo Quiz on the Block”, which aired on February 16th. 7 years ago, the two appeared in EBS’s documentary “1등 친구&꼴등 친구/No.1 student & Bottom-ranked student” and drew keen attention.

At the time the documentary was aired, the two were 17 years old. Appearing on “Yoo Quiz on the Block”, Eom Kyu-min and Kim Do-yoon revealed that they are now 24 years old. Kim Do-yoon, who was introduced in the documentary as the No.1 student, said he is in the 3rd year of medical university. Meanwhile, Eom Kyu-min, who appeared in the documentary as the worst student in school, announced his recent status, revealing that he is currently serving in the military. 

On the broadcast that day, the two also talked about some behind-the-scenes stories of when they were filming the documentary in the past, making MC Yoo Jae-seok and Lee Mal-nyeon laugh so hard.

Writer Lee Na-yoon of “Our Beloved Summer” once revealed that she took the inspiration from the motif of EBS’s documentary “No.1 student & Bottom-ranked student”.

Meanwhile, “Our Beloved Summer” is a romance-comedy series that tells about complex and subtle emotions that ex-lovers experience when they are forcibly summoned in front of the camera because the documentary they filmed in high school 10 years ago becomes viral again. Actor Choi Woo-sik and actress Kim Da-mi played the main characters in this drama.
