BLACKPINK Ji Soo’s global fan union released a statement to YG Entertainment, demanding Ji Soo’s solo activity.
On December 23rd, JISOO GLOBAL FAN UNION posted a request on SNS, demanding singer Ji Soo’s solo activities. Fans expressed their concern about how YG Entertainment broke its promise regarding BLACKPINK member Ji Soo‘s solo activities.
According to the fan union, Yang Hyun Seok, former producer of YG Entertainment, issued a statement on February 8th, 2019, that the BLACKPINK members would release their solo albums in a row after BLACKPINK’s second EP. On June 1st, 2020, YG Entertainment released another statement and announced, “The members’ solo songs will be released sequentially after the release of BLACKPINK’s first full album in September.”
The last mention of Ji Soo’s solo activities was on December 30th, 2020, when her agency YG said, “Ji Soo is currently on a schedule to film the drama ‘Snowdrop’. We will inform you of the detailed schedule through a later notice.”
JISOO GLOBAL FAN UNION claimed, “There has been no news from the company about Ji Soo’s solo project even after the JTBC drama ‘Snowdrop’ finished its broadcast and BLACKPINK finally released their second full album.”
“Ji Soo said she would have a solo release to fans through a fanmeeting in early 2022 and said she already has two to three songs in mind. Fans just want the company to be clear and update on their commitments and plans for Ji Soo’s future activity in the music industry,” they demanded.
