aespa’s Winter revealed a past incident that occurred due to her introverted personality.
On July 18th, Winter appeared as a guest on the web program “Leemujin Service”, which is published on YouTube channel KBS Kpop. Here, Winter shared an anecdote related to her introverted personality and her mother.
In particular, when the host Lee Mu Jin asked, “I heard that your dream was to be an idol since before, is it true?”, Winter answered sincerely, “Yes, deep inside my heart, I really wanted to be an idol. But since I am very introverted, I couldn’t say that I want to be an idol!”
According to Winter, she was first casted at a dance festival, and subsequently told her mom about it. It was only when her mom asked that Winter admitted she wanted to become a celebrity for the first time.
Hearing this, Lee Mu Jin expressed his astonishment by saying, “You are really introverted”.
Due to her introverted personality, Winter also surprised everyone with a story about how she couldn’t ring the bell on the bus when getting off. The female idol claimed that ringing the bell brought too much attention, so she felt scared. Instead, she would wait for somebody else to get off the bus at the next stop and exit together with them, and would sit until the last stop often as a result.
“I can’t go shopping if I don’t have AirPods”, Winter also confessed, surprising everyone. According to the female idol, if the staff comes for assistance and asks if there’s anything she’s looking for, she would leave the store.
Afterwards, Lee Mu Jin, who heard about Winter’s shy personality, inquired about how the female idol can participate in a dance festival. To this, Winter replied, “I feel less shy when dancing than singing. Since we dance together, the gaze is dispersed. But for singing, it seems I have to do it alone.”
Winter also mentioned the casting behind-the-scenes that fans were curious about. She mentioned that she sang “a few tens of songs”, and talked about the audition process.
Finally, Winter revealed during the audition, a practice room was borrowed, and most of the songs were improv. In fact, one of the songs sung by Winter was Lee Moon Sae’s “In the Shade of the Street Tree,” showcasing her beautiful vocals.
