YG’s executive producer Yang Hyun Suk appeared at his first appeal trial.

On the morning of April 12th, Yang Hyun Suk, the executive producer of YG Entertainment, attended the first appeal trial on his charges of retaliatory threats at the Seoul Central District Court in Seocho-gu, Seoul.

Yang Hyun Suk was put on trial on charges of threatening former idol trainee Han Seo Hee, who raised the suspicion that former iKON member B.I purchased illegal drugs, to change her statement in 2016.

Han Seo Hee reported the case to the Anti-Corruption & Civil Rights Commission in 2019, but Yang Hyun Suk denied the charges, saying he met Han Seo Hee but did not threaten her.

In the first trial, the prosecution demanded a sentence of three years in prison for Yang Hyun Suk, but the court acquitted him due to insufficient evidence. In response, the prosecution submitted an appeal, claiming that the first trial misunderstood the facts and legal principle interpretations.

After the first trial, Yang Hyun Suk stated, “I would like to express my deep respect and gratitude for the court’s ruling. From now on, I will do my best in my rightful place”. Yang Hyun Suk returned as the executive producer of YG in January of this year.
