Shaman Advisors Recalls “Exhuma” Filming, “I Noticed A Spirit On The Set”
Shamans Go Chun-ja and Lee Da-young, who were advisors for “Exhuma” team, revealed behind stories of the filming
On April 27th, an MBN program drew attention as it featured shamans Go Chun-ja and Lee Da-young, who were advisors for the movie “Exhuma”, talking about strange stories on the filming set.
That day, Kim Yong-man said, “The scene where actress Kim Go-eun put charcoal on her face in the trailer was a hot topic”. Go Chun-ja agreed, saying “Director Jang Jae-hyun saw me do that and said he wanted to do it like that”.
Kim Yong-man then asked, “Isn’t ‘Exhuma’ a hit? Did you look for a good day before the movie premiere?”. Go Chun-ja nodded and said, “‘Exhuma’ was originally scheduled to premiere in November last year, but it was delayed to February this year”.
She continued, “They asked me to choose between the 20th, 21st and 22nd of February, so I told them to release the movie on the 22nd”. The movie really premiered on February 22nd, 2024.
Go Chun-ja later introduced her house, saying “Kim Go-hyun and Lee Do-hyun practiced here for one year and a half before filming the movie”, adding “Both of them came and practiced whenever they had time. They all wanted to act naturally so that even real shamans wouldn’t feel awkward when watching the movie. I really appreciate their hard work and sincerity”.
Go Chun-ja and Lee Da-young shared, “On the day actress Kim Go-eun filmed the singing scene alone, actor Yoo Hae-jin and some other members of the production team said they felt unwell”.
They explained, “What the actors recited and played with the drum are actually what we often do. Therefore, a spirit can possess anyone at any time”, adding “We had to observe the scene very carefully, and in the process, we noticed something passed by very quickly behind the monitor”, surprising everyone.
Go Chun-ja added, “I said, ‘Go away’. After that, everyone felt much better”. Upon hearing the story, the MCs exclaimed, “But isn’t it a little unfair, from the perspective of the ghost? They got called out there but then you told them to leave?”
