The cast and producer of “Squid Game” recently held a press conference shortly after the Emmy Awards.

Soon after the 74th Emmy Awards, the “Squid Game” team had a press conference at JW Marriott LA, which was attended by Director Hwang Dong Hyeok, CEO Kim Ji Yeon, and cast members Lee Jung Jae, Park Hae Soo, Oh Young Soo, and Jung Ho Yeon, who talked about the series’ achievements at the Emmy Awards.

In particular, Oh Young Soo, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Emmy Awards, said, “Through ‘Squid Game’, our culture has risen to the world class and achieved today’s result. In this sense, we will move forward with an international sense. I thought it would be a great opportunity to participate in the Emmy Awards ceremony.”

The senior actor also added, “We are not in the world, but rather, the world is carried within us. It is not an era in which the capacity of our culture is to accept what comes from outside, but rather a time where we feel the value of our existence while sharing it. I heard from people who I met here that the status of Korean residents have improved a lot after ‘Squid Game’. Now, I have a lot of confidence and it seems to be an opportunity to inform the public of such feelings. I have been in the acting industry for nearly 60 years, and now that I think about it, I should be confident in what I’m doing. There was a leap that we have achieved for the economy in 5 years, which would have taken 10 years, but our culture has not grown accordingly. Now though, I think Korean culture is growing as rapidly as the economy.”

At the same time, Oh Young Soo discussed his future plans, saying, I’m not the one going up, but the one going down. I think I should focus on the work I have in Korea. I think that’s a little too much too.”

Finally, the actor concluded, “Looking at this result today, I felt a tremendous energy of being alive and breathing. The time has come for us to rise to this rank and show our values. I will do my best as an actor in Korea and abroad with the remaining energy. I hold great gratitude to those who worked hard, who have supported me, and informed me.”
