Was viewers’ anticipation too high? “Work Later, Drink Now 2” is receiving harsh criticism because of “cancer patient” setting

Is it because they prepared season 2 in a hurry thanks to season 1’s popularity?

Viewers are divided into likes and dislikes for TVING’s “Work Later, Drink Now” season 2. Above all, it seems difficult to sympathize with the setting where cancer patient and alcohol stick together.

“Work Later, Drink Now”, which was first released in October last year, tells the story of three women Ahn So Hee (Lee Sun Bin), Han Ji Yeon (Han Sun Hwa), Kang Ji Goo (Jung Eun Ji), whose belief in life is one drink at the end of the day. It is based on Mikkang’s Daum webtoon “Drinker City Women”.

“Work Later, Drink Now” season 2, which returned after a year, seems to fall short of viewers’ expectations. Above all, the scene where Han Ji Yeon, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in episodes 1 and 2 of “Work Later, Drink Now 2” released on Dec 9th, was naturally cured by living in the mountains and appeared at a bar again after 26 months to drink.

The reason why “Work Later, Drink Now” was popular in the first place was that the three women’s drinking parties led to laughter and empathy. However, the moment “cancer” was attached to it, it became an area where you can drink for any reason. Although Han Ji Yeon was naturally cured, how could it be good to see a woman in her 20s who fought cancer drinking alcohol again? In other words, the setting of “cancer”, which was put in as a dramatic device towards the end in season 1, eventually became “poison” in season 2.
