BTS’s Suga, V, and Jungkook Earn ‘Album and Song of the Year’ Honors from Top International Media Outlets

BTS has been recognized in the categories of ‘Album of the Year’ and ‘Song of the Year’ by prestigious media outlets

On December 4th (local time), the U.S. music-specialized media Consequence of Sound announced the ’50 Best Albums of 2023,’ where Suga’s April release as Agust D, ‘D-DAY,’ was ranked 27th. 

Consequence of Sound said, “Agust D’s third and concluding album of the trilogy, ‘D-DAY,’ is one of Suga’s finest albums.”

Timeout from the UK placed V’s first solo album, ‘Layover,’ released in September, at 19th in the ’30 Best Albums of 2023,’ praising, “In his album containing six songs, V captures a nostalgic, jazzy R&B genre with his husky yet sweet baritone voice,” and recommending it to fans of Neo soul legend Maxwell.

Uproxx, a U.S. media outlet, included Jungkook’s first solo album, ‘GOLDEN,’ released in November, as one of ‘The Best Albums Of 2023,’ praising, “Jungkook has proven himself to be a pop sensation, not only as a member of BTS but also as a solo artist.” 

They continued by highlighting specific tracks like the romantic ‘Standing Next to You,’ the playful ‘3D,’ and the poignant ballad ‘Hate You,’ predicting that these songs will become timeless classics.

‘GOLDEN’ also affirmed Jungkook’s global pop star status by being included in the ‘Best Albums of 2023’ list by The New York Times.

BTS members’ songs were also featured in the ‘Album of the Year’ and ‘Song of the Year’ selections by the Rolling Stone. Rolling Stone placed Suga’s ‘D-DAY’ at 69th in the ‘100 Best Albums of 2023,’ saying, “(This album) is filled with 10 tracks that explore the concept of freedom through lyrics and music.”

Additionally, V’s first solo album ‘Layover’ secured the 58th spot in the ‘100 Best Songs of 2023’ with the track ‘Rainy Days.’ Rolling Stone commented, “The solo activities of each BTS member reveal unique musical identities.”

Regarding V, they said, “V proved he could digest the old-school genre with this song, combining piano sounds, slow beats, and a baritone voice.” Jungkook’s solo single ‘SEVEN,’ ranked 99th, received praise for his soulful vocals that shine against the heavy beats.
